AMMAN: Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Maaytah, the Director of the Public Security Directorate (PSD), visited the newly established headquarters of the Cybercrime Unit in the Muqabalain area, southwest of Amman. The visit underlined the unit's pivotal role in the PSD's ongoing modernization efforts and its critical function in ensuring digital security amid evolving technological challenges.
According to Jordan News Agency, Maj. Gen. Maaytah emphasized that the new Cybercrime Unit building is integral to the PSD's development strategy, aimed at enhancing infrastructure to deliver comprehensive security and societal services. This initiative is designed to meet the evolving needs of citizens effectively. He conveyed the appreciation of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, for the unwavering commitment of PSD personnel in executing their duties across various formations and units.
Maj. Gen. Maaytah highlighted the Cybercrime Unit's essential role in tackling diverse cybercrimes, stressing the significance of adhering to legal frameworks. With rapid technological progression introducing new cybercrime forms, he called for increased vigilance to protect citizens in the digital realm. The Director reiterated the necessity for prompt responses to electronic incidents, advocating for professional technical expertise to deliver optimal community services while maintaining privacy standards.
