Ma'an: Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi inaugurated a new Arab sweets and bakery factory in Wadi Unaizah, Ma'an Governorate, as part of the "Production Branches and Units" initiative, marking an effort to stimulate local economies and create job opportunities.
According to Jordan News Agency, the opening of the factory coincided with His Majesty King Abdullah II's visit to Al Jafr. This reflects the royal directives focused on supporting productive sectors and stimulating investment in the governorates. The initiative aims to create sustainable employment opportunities for local communities.
Yousef Issawi, who also leads the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal Initiatives, toured the facility alongside Ma'an Governor Hassan Jbour, Ministry of Labor Secretary-General Abdullah Jbour, and senior military officials. During the visit, Suleiman Ma'ani, the company's General Manager, briefed Issawi on the project's implementation stages, technical specifications, and future expansion plans.
The factory features two modern production lines capable of producing 24,000 loaves per hour, with a total daily output of approximately 12 tons of bakery and Arab sweet products. These are produced in adherence to high standards of quality and food safety.
Built on a 10-dunum plot, the 3,650-square-meter facility includes a production hall, administrative offices, storage areas, a flour silo room, and various service amenities. The infrastructure allows for future expansion to accommodate growing demand.
Currently, the factory employs 65 local men and women who have undergone specialized technical training programs. The employment number is expected to increase to 75 within six months and reach 150 by the end of the first year. This is part of a clear employment plan coordinated with the Ministry of Labor.
Issawi emphasized the significance of developmental and employment-generating projects in enhancing living standards and reducing unemployment, especially in remote and underserved areas. He noted that over 30 similar production units have been established under the royal initiative, creating more than 10,000 job opportunities, with several more projects nearing completion.
He also stressed that these initiatives are implemented with complete technical and administrative oversight to ensure their sustainability and contribution to local economic development.
