Amman: Jordan's tourism income saw a significant rise of 24.9 percent in July, reaching $926.2 million, which helped narrow the decline for the first seven months of the year to 0.2 percent. This brought the total tourism income to $4.418 billion, based on preliminary data from the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ).
According to Jordan News Agency, income from Jordanians residing abroad decreased by 8.9 percent during the first seven months. Furthermore, income from U.S. nationals dropped by 20.6 percent, income from European nationalities fell by 24.7 percent, and income from other nationalities decreased by 39.7 percent.
Conversely, the data indicated an increase in tourism income from Arab nationalities by 12.8 percent, and an increase from Asian nationalities by 3.9 percent.
Additionally, the preliminary data highlighted a 0.3 percent increase in tourism spending by Jordanians and residents in July, amounting to $248.1 million. However, during the same period, overall tourism spending declined by 7.5 percent, totaling $1.154 billion.
