Youth Minister and EU Ambassador Assess Impact of Youth Development Projects in Tafila

Amman: Youth Minister Yazan Al-Shdeifat and EU Ambassador to Jordan Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas toured several EU-supported youth development projects in the Tafila governorate to assess their progress and impact on enhancing youth skills.

According to Jordan News Agency, the visit commenced with a meeting at the governorate building, featuring discussions with Tafila Governor Omar Zyoud, MP Maysoon Qawabea, Governorate Council President Ahmad Hawamda, and Tafila Mayor Hazem Odinat. The discussions centered on enhancing youth and sports activities in the region.

The officials then observed a training program focused on "Small and Medium Enterprise Development" at the Al-Ain Al-Baida Community Development Center. This program is part of the UPLOAD SOUTH project, which aims to boost digital opportunities and equip 1,900 young individuals from Karak, Tafila, Ma'an, and Aqaba governorates with technical and entrepreneurial skills.

In addition, they visited the "Hudour" project at Tafila Sports Complex. Implemented by the Ministry of Youth in collaboration with Generations For Peace, this initiative has benefited 20,000 young people across various governorates by concentrating on digital skills, civic engagement, and mental health support.

Minister Al-Shdeifat highlighted the significance of these projects in empowering youth and underscored the ministry's dedication to executing Royal directives through skills development and enhanced sports infrastructure.

Ambassador Chatzisavas remarked that the visit signifies a broader strategy to fortify the EU-Jordan partnership, with a focus on youth as pivotal agents of sustainable progress. "Through these collaborative efforts, Tafila's youth become active participants in shaping their development story, not just beneficiaries," he stated.

The Minister's itinerary began at the Tafila Youth Directorate, where he evaluated the operations of youth centers and the directorate's strategic plans for the year 2025.
