Jordan’s Iraqi crude imports resume after weeks-long halt

Jordan announced Monday that it has resumed imports of Iraqi crude after a weeks-long disruption caused by a change in logistics by Iraqi authorities.

“The loading of Jordan-bound Iraqi oil has resumed after the Iraqi side completed all logistical procedures,” said Saleh Kharabsheh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Between September 2021 and July 2022, the Kingdom imported about 2.525 million barrels from Iraq, moving 8,359 barrels per day on average via 9,678 tankers.

Under the terms of a 2021 memorandum of understanding, Jordan imports approximately 10,000 barrels per day based on the monthly average price of Brent crude oil minus $16 per barrel to cover the difference in quality and transportation costs.
