Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee Condemns Israel’s Planned Takeover of Gaza

Amman: The Ministerial Committee mandated by the Joint Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit on developments in the Gaza Strip on Saturday expressed its strong condemnation and categorical rejection of Israel's announcement it intended to impose full military control over the Gaza Strip.

According to Jordan News Agency, the committee, which includes Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt, Indonesia, Nigeria, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Trkiye, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in addition to Bangladesh, Chad, Djibouti, Gambia, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Mauritania, Oman, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen, views this as a violation of international law and an attempt to solidify illegal occupation.

The committee stated that Israel's actions constitute serious violations, including killing, starvation, forced displacement, and settler terrorism, which could amount to crimes against humanity. These actions, they argue, threaten peace efforts, exacerbate the situation for Palestinians, and continue a comprehensive aggression that has persisted for nearly two years.

The committee called for an immediate cessation of Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, demanding that Israel allow the entry of humanitarian aid and ensure the freedom of operation for relief agencies. They also expressed support for efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to achieve a ceasefire and exchange of prisoners and hostages.

Plans for the Arab-Islamic reconstruction of Gaza were highlighted, with a call for active participation in an upcoming conference in Cairo. The committee rejected attempts to displace Palestinians and stressed the importance of maintaining the status quo in Jerusalem's holy sites, recognizing the Hashemite Custodianship's role.

The committee emphasized that a just and lasting peace requires implementing the two-State solution, establishing an independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital. They called on the international community to take urgent action against Israel's policies and ensure accountability for violations of international law.

The committee also urged implementation of the outcomes from the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian question, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, to end the conflict in Gaza and pursue a comprehensive peaceful resolution.
