6 Palestinians injured by Israeli fire, home demolished

Six Palestinian youths were wounded by live Israeli fire, one seriously, during an army raid on Tuesday of the town of Tubas, northwest of the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said occupation forces stormed Tubas, triggering clashes with stone-throwing local youth, during which soldiers fired live rounds and tear gas. The injured, including a youth who was shot in the chest and was in a serious condition, were taken to the local public hospital.

The Israeli army also staged search-and-arrest raids into a number of West Bank towns, and arrested 17 Palestinians, as troops continued to blockade Burqa village, west of the city of Nablus, for the second day in a row.

In the southern West Bank, the Committee to Resist the Wall and Settlements said that the occupation forces demolished a 150-square-meter, two-storey house south of Hebron.

Meantime, an Israeli court issued an order to demolish the Sur Baher Sports Club in occupied East Jerusalem under the pretext it was built without a permit. Local Palestinians said the Israeli measure is part of a campaign targeting national Palestinian institutions and symbols in Jerusalem.

Ministry looking for water carrier project financiers

The government is trying to find funding for a multi-billion-dollar project to build a water conveyor that will carry desalinated sea water from the Gulf of Aqaba to Amman and other governorates across the kingdom, Minister of Water and Irrigation Muhammad al-Najjar said Tuesday.

The minister told a symposium organized by the Association of Banks in Jordan that the search targets Jordanian investors and local banks, indicating that so far, $500 million has already been secured through grants and aid to finance the National Water Carrier Project, which is expected to cost $2.5 billion.

In this context, Najjar stressed the importance of Jordanian institutions and banks in financing national projects without resorting to external borrowing, stressing that the government will guarantee the financing.

Three weeks ago, when the Patriots dressed down the Bills in Buffalo with a three-pass performance that seemed to be more of an attempt at demoralization than an actual game plan, it looked like Bill Belichick was casting his division rival completely adrift with the intention that they would arrive in Foxborough for the Week 16 rematch too emotionally battered to mount a comeback. Sean McDermott was flust… Continue reading “Sean McDermott Is Not Bill Belichick, but He’s Proven to Be a Worthy Adversary”
