Jordan’s and Slovenia’s Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Developments and Bilateral Ties


Amman: Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi and Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon held discussions in Amman, focusing on regional developments and strengthening bilateral ties. The meeting covered cooperation in key areas such as the economy, investment, information technology, tourism, defense, and security within the framework of the European Union.



According to Jordan News Agency, the ministers highlighted the importance of maintaining the ceasefire in Gaza and emphasized the need for the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip. Safadi commended Slovenia’s support for the Palestinians’ right to statehood based on a two-state solution and acknowledged Slovenia’s efforts through its membership in the UN Security Council to halt the Israeli conflict in Gaza and facilitate humanitarian assistance.



Safadi also praised Slovenia’s involvement in launching the Friends of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) initiative, in collaboration with Jordan and Kuwait, aimed at supporting Palestinian refugees. The discussion extended to Syria, where Safadi reiterated Jordan’s support for the Syrian people’s efforts in rebuilding their country, eradicating terrorism, and creating conditions for the voluntary return of refugees.



Both ministers expressed their commitment to supporting Lebanon’s stability and maintaining the functionality of its institutions. They urged effective political movements to implement the two-state solution as the sole path to achieving regional security, stability, and peace.



Fajon affirmed Slovenia’s dedication to developing its relationship with Jordan and working together to achieve regional peace and stability. She reiterated Slovenia’s support for the two-state solution and rejected the displacement of Palestinians or the annexation of Palestinian land. Fajon highlighted Slovenia’s support for UNRWA, emphasizing the agency’s indispensable role.



Additionally, she noted the collaboration between Slovenia and Jordan to enhance economic cooperation, particularly in defense and artificial intelligence. On Lebanon, Fajon stressed the importance of a ceasefire for stability and affirmed Slovenia’s role in the UN Security Council to support sustainable peace in Lebanon.
