Amman: The Kingdom's reform project, encompassing political, economic, and administrative tracks, is being positioned as a "renaissance" scheme and a path of clear achievements as the state embarks on its second centennial under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II. This was highlighted by First Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Dr. Mustafa Khasawneh.
According to Jordan News Agency, Khasawneh discussed these initiatives on the "Jadaliyyat-Controversies" show, which aired on Yarmouk FM and was moderated by Ahmed Shatnawi. He emphasized the absence of rivalry between the House and the government, pointing out that their relationship is based on joint cooperation within the constitutional framework, which serves Jordan's higher interest.
Khasawneh also highlighted the "flexible" segregation of powers, as defined by the Constitution, which outlines mutual cooperation, oversight tools, and their executive mechanisms. He described oversight on government work as necessary to maintain balance and serve the state's supreme interests, noting the advancement of the Jordanian Constitution compared to others globally.
To accommodate the various amendments made to the Jordanian Constitution, he stressed the importance of improving the House's internal regulations and amending procedural rules to enhance the oversight role of parties, blocs, and coalitions within Parliament. Khasawneh remarked that any future improvements to the House's internal regulations should align with the comprehensive reforms of the Kingdom's political system, in accordance with the Royal vision.
