Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday honored Jordanian athletes who secured medals at the Olympic and Paralympic Games held in Paris 2024 and Tokyo 2020. During a ceremony, the King awarded the distinguished athletes with the Silver Jubilee Medal for their remarkable achievements. According to Jordan News Agency, King Abdullah II expressed his admiration for the national teams' accomplishments at these prestigious international events, highlighting their role as a source of pride for all Jordanians. He conveyed his wishes for the athletes' continued success and encouraged further achievements in future regional and international competitions. Jordan's athletes achieved significant success, winning a total of four medals in the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics, along with seven medals at the Tokyo 2020 Games. The ceremony was attended by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein, Prince Rashid bin El Hassan, and His Highness Prince Mired bin Raad, who hold various influential positions in Jordanian sports and disability rights organizations. The athletes who received the Silver Jubilee Medal include Zaid Mustafa, who won a Silver Medal in taekwondo at Paris 2024, and Saleh Al Sharabaty, who secured a Silver Medal in taekwondo at Tokyo 2020. Other honored athletes were Abdelrahman Al Masatfa with a Bronze Medal in karate at Tokyo 2020, and Omar Qaradeh and Jamil Al Shebli, both of whom achieved Gold Medals in Paralympic powerlifting at the Tokyo 2020 Games, among others. Abdul Karim Khattab, another accomplished Paralympic powerlifter, was recognized for his two Gold Medals won in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, having already received his medal earlier in the year during the King's visit to Zarqa governorate.
