Medical Team Successfully Reattaches Cut-Off Fingers of Young Man in Zarqa

Zarqa: A specialized medical team at Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein Hospital in Zarqa successfully reattached the fingers of a young man in his twenties following a terrible finger-cut-off accident. Hospital Director Nasser Hussein told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the emergency department received a critical case involving a young man who had suffered severe injuries in a wooden workshop. His five fingers were severed by an electric saw, requiring immediate surgical intervention to save his hand and restore hope.

According to Jordan News Agency, orthopedic consultant Yaqoub Hayek detailed that the young man suffered severed tendons, nerves, veins, and arteries, along with complicated fractures in his bones. This required precise intervention to reconnect the tendons, stitch the tissues, and stabilize the bones using special medical metal rods. The nerves were also meticulously sutured, with each finger containing two major nerves. After completing the complex surgical procedures, the wound was closed, the hand was washed, and fractures were stabilized with a medical splint, while the patient received necessary antibiotics via intravenous injection.

Hayek added that the young man is now recovering in stable condition, with promising progress. He has started to gradually move his fingers, and it is expected that he will regain full hand functionality over time, thanks to medical care and proper rehabilitation.

Anesthesia specialist Mohammad Yaseen emphasized that the operation was carried out in a fully coordinated medical environment, where anesthesia played a crucial role in ensuring the patient's stability throughout the surgery. The nursing team also worked diligently to ensure the success of the procedure and to monitor the patient's recovery progress.
